This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Lily Myburgh.

Welcome to post number 100. To celebrate, Chané from OddOneOut has offered to give away a lovely  brooch from her new Country Charm range to one of my readers. Keep reading to learn more about Chané in my very first interview and find out how to enter.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi, my name is Chané and I live in a small town called Hermanus. After studying Textile Design, I started freelance designing and OddOneOut was born. Since I can remember, I've been making things with scrap material and playing around with textures. I love discovering old, unwanted items and transforming them into something else, giving them new life and purpose. Anyone who knows me would tell you that I cannot pass a 2nd-hand / charity shop without going inside...and off, course I never come out empty handed. Though I am quite shy, I love to dress boldly with the use of contrasting colours and accessories. I'm addicted to coffee and I'm a chocoholic, I love old movies and Indie-rock; and no matter where I go I always have a bag with some or other project in it to keep my hands busy.

What do you make/sell and why?
I make and sell textile accessories using various techniques. Some of my products include fabric necklaces, fabric brooches, crochet brooches, crochet bangles, etc. Being a designer, I also have a range of lazercut jewellery and button badges.

I don't think I can help it, even if I didn't do it for a living, I would still do it. There is nothing I'd rather do, watching a project unfold before my eyes is as satisfying as eating a big slab of chocolate.

How did you get started?
I started making gifts for family and friends in my spare time. Some of my products were seen and I was commissioned  to make a few unique beaded pieces. I then started taking my work to local markets and retail stores. I then moved from Pretoria to Hermanus where I opened a shop called MishMash. Unfortunately the area where the shop was situated deteriorated, hence I decided to move the shop online until a better suited premises was found. I'm currently running the online shop while doing my freelance textile designing.

What are the most frustrating and rewarding parts of creating for you?
It is totally frustrating when creating and you don't have the correct supplies, or when I get to the last row of a crochet blanket and my wool runs out! The most rewarding part of creating is definitely the finished product! To stand back and see this creation and remembering that not to long ago it was just a thought!

What is your dream creative project?
My dream creative project is to design and print my own fabric rage.
